Birth Register, July 1852-Dec. 1853.

Description: The General Assembly passed an Act for births to be recorded by the physician or parent beginning July 1, 1852. The act was repealed on Jan. 31, 1855. York County only recorded births from July 1852 until December 1853.  There were no official birth records kept prior to 1893 other than these four years. If you are searching for a birth prior to 1893, we suggest trying church records or family files at The York County History Center.

Content: The information in this series contains the full name of the child, sex, race, name of the father, occupation of the father, names of siblings, mother's maiden name, time and date of birth, place of birth, name of person signing certificate.
